NOVEL CORONAVIRUS ON THE MARCH IN THE ARABIAN PENINSULA

 



The Ministry of Saudi Arabia has announced 4 more cases of coronavirus infection in the peninsula. 

Most of the patients are elderly, and of the four one has died since, and two more are critically ill.  Only one so far, a 56 year old man, has survived and has been since released from the hospital. 

Since the 1st of May, 19 new cases of the Sars like coronavirus have been recorded in the peninsula.  Of those, 9 have resulted in death.  

The Saudi government has ordered an in depth investigation into the outbreak.  Most of the cases have been recorded in the Eastern part of the country.  

A total of 38 cases have so far been recorded, but the pace of the infections seems to have quickened in the past month.  Of the 38 total cases certified, 20 have resulted in death. 

The WHO, world health organization has ordered vigilance, but not yet recommended quarantine or border closures to prevent the spread of the virus.  It does not yet have any recommendations for point of entry screening.
