Many people have looked away, but the sad truth is that the tragedy in Syria is not going away.
A civil war, and attempts at reaching a state of democracy during thirty plus years of dictatorial rule, is now reaching its end-game resolution.
But it is at a cost no one should bear.
NGOs are relating news that their tally, which might be a strong underestimation of the real figures, of the dead in Syria since the beginning of the conflict has surpassed 82,000 victims.
More than half of the estimate are civilians. Of these 4,788 were children and 3,049 were women.
The tally also includes military and militia supporting al Assad.
More than 10,000 people are in detention or missing, which could add to the 82,000+ considered to have been killed.
