Seems good Pope Francis did mean something different when he said that he wanted to 'shake' the church out of its torpor.
It seems some nuns have taken his words literally.
In fact, a clot of them have been arrested as they tried to smuggle a cache of 40 lb of cocaine, making it the biggest heist of such drug from long robed holy women. Or is it?
Not that there is a precedent, at least not to our knowledge.
But let's look at this a little closer. The 'nuns' were actually lay people, dressed as nuns. Which should please the holy father quite a bit.
The young women had strapped the cocaine to their legs, and then rolled their floor length robes over the packaging.
Unfortunately, they did not observe proper attire codes, since an alert guard picked up on some of the incongruence in the vestimenta and promptly ordered a search.
The three women had just landed in the Colombian city of Andres, after first loading up in the capital of Bogota`.
It appears then, that the women had not observed proper dressing protocol, although we are not told what detail tipped off the wily guard.
I guess, in the future, the 'nun caper' might not be revisited, as it seems the guards did not bother to honor the sanctity of the dress.
Is there anything sacred any more?
