An explosive edict has been emitted by Muslim religious cleric calling for the assassination of all the opponents of the Morsi government.  This comes just a couple of days from the assassination of the moderate opponent in Tunisia to the standing government.

The Morsi government distanced itself from the fatwa, and even launched an investigation on the clerics that have emitted the edict.

Hard liners in Egypt have become intransigent to the rebellious tumult of the opposition to the Muslim Brotherhood led government headed by Morsi.

However, Morsi's aides have fomented discord by depicting the opposition as a mad mob driven by thugs.

Another cleric has even gone so far as to pronounce that the sexual assaults of women in Tahrir square in the past weeks was amply justified as the clerics branded all participants to the revolt as Crusaders or widows who are out of control.

Morsi's condemnation of the fatwas in effect was not immediate, which caused outrage.

Prime Minister Kandil joined in the condemnation by saying that there extremist clerics and their edicts 'do not relate to Islam'

The opposition leader, Mohammed Al Baradei is now under 24 hour surveillance due to the fatwa, together with other prominent opposition figures.
