MISSIONARIES ARRESTED IN LYBIA FOR SPREADING CHRISTIANITY

Four foreigners have been arrested in Lybia for their alleged proselytizing activities to spread Christianity in and around the Benghazi area.  They are also accused of printing books about Christianity.

They were arrested last Tuesday by Lybian authorities and accused of living in a house where allegedly have been found thousands of books that 'called for conversion to Christianity.'

In Lybia it is now forbidden to try to convert to any religion.  The authorities assert that the Lybian population is 100% Muslim, and that therefore this activity of trying to convert the Libian people is seen as subversive and is considered a threat to national security, according to Libian authorities.

The four accused of proselytizing are from four different nationalities, but all hold U.S. passports.

The four are supposed to be handed over to national security forces by the local authorities in a couple of days.

The Preventive Security agency is a brand new branch of the Libian government created in 2011.  It is made up of several rebel brigades that were the main actors in the civil war theatre.
