The World Health Organization has reported in the latest DON (Disease Outbreak Notification) that 18 new cases of the MERS coronavirus have been confirmed in the Arabian peninsula.

Most of the patients are within the epicenter of the epidemic, Median and Hafar Al-Batin, but some cases have been reported in Riyadh.

The ages of the cases span from 3 to 75 years old.

The cases did not occur all at the same time, but were compiled in the first 10 days in September.   Of the 18 cases, three have since died, bringing the total toll to 58 deaths since the epidemic began, and 132 total confirmed cases.

The WHO has not changed guidelines regarding the disease.  It still advises vigilance, especially in regards to those who are show symptoms that have traveled to known epidemic hotspots.
