NEW ZEALAND'S 'RAPE CLUB' COMING UNDER SCRUTINY OF THE POLICE AUTHORITIES

There is no denying that the internet has proven to be a boon for those who wish to work in the shadows to undertake illegal action or to promote pornography and other like activities.

In New Zealand, the police is trying to unravel an internet 'club' that sees a group of young men boasting of raping underage girls, by first drugging them and then having groups sex with the stunned girls.

The group is allegedly based in the capital of Auckland, but the members of the group might be difficult to prosecute due to the secrecy afforded the internet site, and the fact that evidence must be found to corroborate the boasts of the men who are posting about the alleged rapes of minors.

The members of the groups, who call themselves the 'Roast Busters', usually make their boasts by posting videos on Youtube.  In the videos they name their victims, something that has to be substantiated, since there are no complaints  levied yet by the victims to the Auckland authorities.

One girl however, was interviewed.  She told how the group got her so drunk she kept passing out.  The problem is that she does not say outright that she was raped, she merely says "you could say that I got raped".

Without a more decisive complaint the authorities will have a hard time bringing the men to justice.

The Prime MInister just this week announced that he was seeking new legislation that could curb or at least allow prosecution of cyberbullying, or at least the use of the internet to pursue illegal action.

The authorities however, had been investigating the group for two years, but have not been able to make any inroads in the prosecution, since most of the girls are young and traumatized, which makes them unwilling to come forward and press charges.
