EGYPT'S SHARP TURN: LATEST VIOLENCE SPELLS THE END FOR THE BROTHERHOOD'S DREAMS OF INCLUSION

Only a few days after a deadly bombing of a police building in Egypt, a car bomb today exploded in the middle of bustling Cairo, injuring five people inside a bus.

The bomb had been placed in Cairo's Nasr city district.  The person detonating the bomb must have been waiting until the bus approached to spark the explosion, hoping that in this way it would mete a large number of victims.

Another, unexploded bomb was found not far from the first, behind a billboard.  This bomb was intended to kill or harm security forces who would have come to survey the site of the first explosion.

Islamic militants operating in the Sinai have already taken responsibility for the previous, deadly attack and it is probably the case that they are behind these latest attacks too.

The government, led at this time by General Al Sisi who is believed to be contemplating a run for the presidency in the upcoming elections, has already outlawed the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization this week, and the latest bombing are seen as a response to just such edict.

The problem however, is that even if the Muslim Brotherhood is found to be innocent of the terrorist attacks, they are nevertheless seen by moderates and secularists to be one and the same, since the Sinai based terrorist Al Qaeda affiliate cell is operating in direct support of the Brotherhood and their inclusion or reinstatement into the Egyptian government.

The Egyptian government has also tried to link Mursi's cabinet and the highest ranking members of the Brotherhood to the smuggling of arms and training Brotherhood members to overtake Egypt and create a Sharia state.

For the first time since the military coup that deposed Mursi, people are seen flying the likeness of Al Sisi at demonstrations, especially after the deadly police headquarters attack last week.
