First Hungary, now Romania. The entire eastern block seems to have become prey to antisemitic ideals and fascist reform.
Romania this week aired on state owned television a sort of 'Christmas Carol' in which the Holocaust was hailed as a good thing, and called for more cremation of Jewish people, although indirectly.
Granted the channel serves the rural areas for the most part, but the question remains as to who could have planned and carried out such a flagrant action of antisemitic propaganda.
Although some Romanian politicians have voiced strong complaints against the broadcast, the call to bring those responsible to justice might go unheeded.
Israel has also voiced its concern about the broadcast.
The tv channel of course has declined all responsibility. It said in a realease, that it merely cobbled together Christmas carols from a cultural center that promotes the preservation of Romania's culture.
The channel's contention however has been challenged by anti discrimination group MCA, which sent a formal complaint to Romania's president Basescu.
Although a shuffling of positions at the tv network was already in the works, what truly concerns the MCA, is the fact that the Romanian population has not made any complaints or even voiced concern over the broadcast.
