Formula One champion Michael Schumacher has been rescued by helicopter following a dangerous skiing accident in France.
A suspicion of head injury prompted the helicopter evacuation. Although Schumacher was conscious, he seemed shaken and mildly confused.
The champion appears to have suffered a serious head injury when he lost control of his descent in the skiing town of Meribel, in France.
The status of Schumacher's health has not yet been disclosed but he is believed to be in stable condition.
