A new development shows just how serious things may get if the Snowden affairs does not fade away.
And fade away, it is not likely to do.
Germany has asked the Russian government for permission to interview Snowden, presumably to find out the extent of spying from the American NSA agency covert surveillance programs.
Russia however, is facilitating such an inquiry through the permission it granted Germany to interview Snowden.
At first Germany had asked for Snowden to be flown over from Russia for the interview, but that was ruled out, since under international laws, if Snowden exits Russia in any way, he would lose his asylum status. More importantly, his plane could easily be forced down by a US ally.
In fact, news have been leaked that Snowden has already met with Green Party representatives in Russia. And the meeting, according to those who took part in it, revealed that Snowden knows quite a bit about how much spying the USA is doing on Merkel and the country at large, and is also willing to help, even going so far as to say he would testify in a German court of inquiry over the alleged spying if asked to do so.
