AUSTRALIA'S DENIAL OF FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION : ANTI MURDOCH ADVERTS REJECTED

Murdoch's far reaching media empire has engulfed almost all of the Western world and has become a thorn in the side of the proponents of free speech.

Murdoch furthermore is one of those media moguls who have no interest in being impartial.  He uses his empire to both 'entertain', but not educate, and 'propagate' information that is politically biased, instead of inform.

In Australia, where his empire rivals that of Berlusconi's Mediaset in Italy, his near hegemony of the printed and spoken word has proven to be less than democratic.

As the elections near, activists seeking to buy ads to inform the people of the bias contained in Murdoch's papers and transmission, has been turned down by almost every network. Murdoch owns the Daily Telegraph, and other widely read newspapers, and some of the tv channels.

While his newspapers make no secret as to their political leanings, and strongly call for the people's ouster of interim Prime Minister Kevin Rudd at Saturday's poll, the dissenting voices have been shut out.

The Left Leaning group Getup!, which describes itself as an advocacy organization for freedom of speech, is bringing a complaint after three major tv network have refused to air their ads, which advised of the bias contained in Murdoch's 'reporting'.  In fact, they contend, and rightly so, that the printed 'news' on Murdoch's papers are not news at all, since they are so partisan and skewed in favor of Murdoch's own political views, that they are no longer to be considered news.

The Murdoch papers in fact, are not objective nor fair, since they have begun a scorched earth campaign against Rudd, even going so far as to depict him in full Nazi uniform as Col. Klink, the obtuse Nazi officer in the tv series "Hogan's heroes".

If the GetUp! group finds no biters, it could be easily said that Australia is falling neck deep in a sort of publishing protofascism, where no dissenting voices are allowed readership against Murdoch's worldview, while he allows his journalists and writers to write often scurrilous and offensive articles on opposition politicians.
