NESTLE` INFILTRATION OF ACTIVIST GROUP GARNERS THE MULTINATIONAL A SENTENCE AND FINE.
Last Wednesday, a well known multinational, Swiss food giant Nestle` was found liable for infiltrating an activist group known as Attac. The multinational was ordered to pay an amount of approximately 32,000 $ in compensation after they were found to have 'planted' a mole inside the activist group after hiring a Swiss security company called Securitas AG.
The security company apparently sent one of its investigators to pose as an activist in order to infiltrate the activist's group meetings.
Nestle` company has signified its displeasure at the judge's decision, saying however that 'incitement to infiltration is against Nestle`s business principles."
The activist group, Attac, a well organized international movement, has as it principle motivation the formulation of social, environmental and democratic alternative to the globalization process. One of their principal objects is the safeguard of fundamental rights for the people, and the promotion of policies that safeguard the common good of humanity paired with tighter fiscal and financial regulations.
