THE STRANGE HAPPENINGS AT THE VATICAN'S ROMAN PALAZZO
At the moment when the church has elected a new pope, and is hoping that the faithful's jubilation will drown out the discontent against the Vatican, come news of a strange situation in the Roman capital that has a, albeit indirect, connection with one of the Holy See's office.
A great Roman Palazzo, which houses one of the critical Vatican offices, the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, is also home to a well known and publicized gay sauna.
One of the residents of the Holy office in the building is one Prefect Emeritus, Cardinal Ivan Dias, and he is sharing a building with a much less saintly office.
The gay club is actually one of Italy's top saunas and has everything from a turkish bath to a whirlpool and massage parlor.
When queried, the Vatican declined any comment on the matter, although Cardinal Dias has offered in the past that "gays can be cured of their unnatural tendencies through penance."
Dias, who was the archbishop in Mumbai, was part of the conclave that elected Pope Francis the I.
