Human rights organizations are keeping a watchful eye on the new restrictions and enforcement of laws governing dress code, hair code and other behavior, which are in violation of human rights when the person is forced through violence or other illegal means to obey such restrictions.

The latest news is of Hamas police forcing men of all ages to shear their heads completely since their longer hair is considered 'indecent'.

In fact, some of the men were arrested because of their hairstyle, or for having hair gel in their hair.

Officials from Hamas are denying that they are responsible for giving such an order to police.

The men who have been forcefully shorn, were beaten and forced to sign a document in which they pledged to keep their hair short.

In the same agreement they also had to sign a promise that they would not wear low waisted pants.

Both longer hair and jeans worn loose at the hips have become a fashion mainstay in Gaza, where presently almost 50% of the people are 18 or younger.

Hamas has repeated its innocence in the matter and said that fault lies on young Islamist radical students, but testimony from witnesses at the time of the incidents deny that this is the case.

This latest development also falls in line with other austere guidelines regarding smoking by women and banning men who are hairdressers from touching or cutting a woman's hair.
