Oklahoma health authorities, who had undertaken the task of testing hundreds of patients who had been treated at Dr. Harrington's dental clinic are issuing some of the results of the mass screening. The clinic has been closed pending an investigation on the practices at the clinic, which included sharing dirty needles, using rusty and unsanitized equipment and other gross violation of the health code.
Dozens of patients have tested positive to Hepatitis A so far, while three tested positive for hepatitis B and as many have been found to be infected with HIV. Some of the positive results need to be double checked to see if they might be alien to the infection pool believed to have originated at the clinic.
So far 3,122 patients of the clinic have been tested. The total of patients for the clinic was around 7,000. The Health authority in Oklahoma would like to test all of them and screen them for blood transmitted diseases.
The Dentistry Board in Oklahoma has filed a case against the oral surgeon.
