Opposition forces had to apparently abandon the area for lack of munitions, and the Syrian army had quickly moved in behind them. By this morning, the army had taken control of the whole neighborhood.
The killings were a result of four days of fighting between the insurgents and the army. Some of the victims died as a result of shelling, some other were executed.
It is time that the Syrian insurgency receive full attention from international agencies, such as the U.N. and other peace keeping forces.
