In an uncommon rebuttal of Syria's statement that it had received the first shipment of S300 missiles, Russia has denied the delivery of missiles to Syria, and appears to have put the shipment on hold, although it is considering a much more lucrative shipment of MIGs, ten in total, to the Assad regime.
The Russian agency has even signified that the shipment might not even be made until sometime in 2014.
At this time a Syrian delegation is traveling to Russia in an attempt at obtaining the ten MIGs, a sign of possible preparations for a larger scale conflict.
Even if the missiles were to be delivered in the near future, the Russian agency has said that an additional six months are needed for training after delivery.
In addition, Russia has already warned Isreal not to attempt the destruction of the S300 once they are delivered, since Russian personnel would be on the ground in Syria to aid in the training of the missile batteries. Any Russian casualty would be immediately cause for retailation, the Russian agency has warned.
