FOUR NEW CASES OF MERS DEATHS IN SAUDI ARABIA

Four new deaths from the MERS virus have been announced by Saudi authorities.

The Saudi authorities have related news of two deaths in the city of Taif and two more in the Eastern province.

This brings the death toll in Saudi Arabia alone to 32.

In the past two weeks, with the advent of summer, the new coronavirus seems to be accelerating.  The rate of infection, which has been sporadic until May of this year, seems to have quickened.  And the mortality rate is also estimated higher so far than previously thought: 60% versus the 50% it was previously thought to be.

In consideration of the Saudi's incipient double pilgrimages of the summer and fall, the world authorities are trying to understand what the new virus entails, but not enough information or samples have been released by Saudi authorities to make meaningful predictions or to establish a plan to stop the spread of the disease after the summer pilgrimages.
