Two young girls and their mother were killed this week by a relative for revenge, after a video of the girls was circulated among the village.
The video had been made a few months ago. In it one could see the two girls happily playing and dancing in the rain on the lawn outside their cottage.
The video had remained in low circulation until one of the relatives made it available to the public. At that point, one of the girl's close relatives became furious because he saw the video as evidence of an act that 'dishonoured' his family.
He then got four friends to follow him to the cottage where the girls lived and started gunning down everyone inside, killing the two girls and the mother.
The murder occurred in Chilas, Pakistan, a small town along the ancient silk route. The cottage in which the girls lived was owned by a retired police officer. The girls and the mother were his family.
The person believed to be behind the murder is none other than the girls' stepbrother, Khutore, who believed he was carrying out the murder in order to restore the family's honour.
Although he is a fugitive now, his accomplices are in custody, and there is reason to believe he will be found. All four of Khutore's friends and accomplices have confessed.
