THE LAST LAUGH ; DERIDED VEGANS HAVE DATA TO PROVE THEIR DIET IS BETTER

Vegans just got a boost from the American Journal of Medicine, or JAMA.  The renown publication just released date on a study that proved vegetarian diets are far superior to meat eating diets in prolonging life expectancy.

70,000 members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church took part in the study.  And the results showed that choosing a vegan diet results in reduced death rates, especially for men.

Vegetarian regimes have already been associated with preventing or bettering several serious diseases, such as hypertension, heart disease, diabetes and metabolic syndrome.

Vegetarians also have a markedly lower chance of developing several types of cancer.

The study divided the participants in several groups, from a totally vegan to a totally non vegetarian, and every step in between, to see if limited meat consumption was a factor, and also which type of vegetarian diet reaped the most  benefit.

Another interesting factor was the discovery that most vegans are in general smarter, more educated and also more likely to be married.  They also indulged less in vices and generally exercised and cared about their fitness and appearance.

Of the 2,570 deaths observed during the study time lapse, the mortality rate for meat eaters was 6 deaths per 1,000 person years, whereas the mortality rate for vegetarians was 12% lower.  The benefit however, was not as marked for women vegetarians.
