CHINA'S IP THEFT COSTING THE US BILLIONS A YEAR

Intellectual property theft is nothing new.  But the scale and dimension it has taken lately is unprecedented and dangerous.

It has now reached a point that is costing the US economy more than 300 billion a year.

Most of the theft comes from China's secret espionage program, which aims to literally 'lift' both industrial sector secrets and national intelligence secrets.

The Chinese invasion of our intellectual property is so pervasive that some politicians are calling for punitive measures to curb it.

A non partisan commission has been established to review the problem and suggest either banking sanctions or import and investment curbs to stop those companies that are not protecting Intellectual Property rights.

The Pentagon has just recently tried to bring focus on the problem by directly accusing tthe Chinese government of cyberespionage that has repeatedly targeted US govt computers.  China has responded by saying that it was not true and that the US was engaging in some sort of discriminatory discourse.

China, said the Commission's report is the single largest source of IP theft.  Russia and India are also guilty of the practice, but to a much lesser extent.
