VITAMIN C IS FOUND TO KILL DRUG-RESISTANT TUBERCOLOSIS IN THE LAB

Vitamin C has multiple benefits, which for better or worse, have been taken advantage of for decades.

But a surprising discovery might make the assumption of the vitamin a must for those at risk of contracting drug resistant tubercolosis, or for those who are already infected.

At least 650,000 people are infested with drug resistant TB in the world.  That number is expected to grow.  And since they do not respond to traditional medicine, the hunt is on to find a solution to the growing, and lethal, problem.

In the lab tests, the Vitamin was shown to increase free radicals production.  These in turn, killed off the Tubercolosis in vitro, even the more resistant forms.

There is no way to know yet whether or not the same result can be obtained in humans, but the research will be undertaken soon.

In addition, Vitamin C is very cheaply produced, although most vitamin C for commercial use is produced in China.

Another thing is worth exploring, according to these researchers : whether the vitamin is effective in concomitance with the use of antibiotics or not. That is whether the vitamin enhances the effect of the antibiotic compound or whether it is equally effective alone.

Obviously these observations will have to be validated by further research on the effect of the vitamin on humans, but any promise held by whatsoever compound, especially one this inexpensive and widely available are welcome.
