CHINA'S TONE DEAF POLICIES ON NORTH KOREA : NINE DEFECTORS ARE SENT BACK TO NORTH KOREA BY CHINA AUTHORITIES

The United Nations this week have relayed news that China might have relinquished nine north Korean defectors back to their homeland, in a breach of international protocol, which guarantees the right of refugees.

The group of dissidents is composed in the majority of orphans who fled the country successfully but were intercepted in Laos by police who then placed them in the hands of the Chinese authorities.

Most of the defectors face torture, imprisonment and even death if returned to North Korean.

The United Nations has asked UNHCR, the human rights group, to investigate and make a formal inquiry on the case.

China has so far declined to respond to any questions on the matter.
