THE CLIFF OVER WHICH HANGS PAKISTAN : DEATH OF POLITICIAN BLAMED ON MUTTHAIDA QAUMI MOVEMENT

As cricketeer Imran Khan convalesces in the hospital amidst allegations of election fraud and calls for protest rallies, one of his senior politicians was killed just this week.

A threat had preceeded the murder of Zara Shahid Hussein, by Altaf Hussain. It was a very loud and explicit threat, made in no less than a public broadcast.

These are the perils of Pakistan.  A country now on the verge of economic collapse, and where a few potentates hold all the power.

Authorities for their part have already said that the killing could have been the result of a botched robbery.

But one has to wonder if the killing has come after many, including Khan, have agitated loudly over calls of election fraud.  Re-polling has been ordered in 43 precincts by the national assembly. Just today, the alleged election winner won a majority in Parliament.

Imran Khan has even pointed the finger at the UK, saying that it failed to act after the British authorities had received information of open threats by Altaf Hussein, and that they have done nothing to stop him.
