Just when people thought the latest ricin scare had been put to rest following the arrest of the suspect who sent letters to the President, another alarm sounds off in Washington.
The postal facility in Washington D.C. stopped the sorting facility machines when an envelope triggered the alarm at the mail facility. The site is the sorting facility where all mail that is sent to the government offices and the White House are tested for poisons.
A laboratory confirmed the findings.
The letter appears to have been mailed from Memphis, Tennessee, but bore no return address.
There are conflicting reports about a suspect being apprehended in the case.
Ricin is a particularly efficient poison and is easy to produce. It also appears that some extremists in the United States are adopting it as a favorite poison.
There is no antidote for Ricin, nor a test for exposure to the poison.
