IRAN'S COVERUP OF THE BUSHEHR POWER STATION: NEW PROBLEMS DENIED BY IRANIAN AUTHORITY

Less than two weeks after news leaked that the Bushehr power station in Iran might have suffered substantial damage from recent earthquakes, the Iranian government has denied having any problems with its power station.

However, there had been reports that the plant had suffered a malfunction.  Iranian authorities instead replied that the start up had gone on without a hitch.

But it was Iran's own ambassador to Russia, M.R. Sadjadi, who on Monday had related news of the power station suffering a malfunction of its main generator. He did however, add that the problem had been addressed and that people, intending probably Russians, were at work to resolve the problem.

Although Bushehr is the only operational plant in Iran, it has failed to produce the 1000 megawatts it was slated to do.  And from the beginning it has been beset by delays and problems.  In fact the plant was only inaugurated in September 2011, and has still not been rendered fully operational.
