MARIJUANA SMOKING CAN CAUSE COMPLETE REMISSION OF CROHN'S DISEASE

The site Pub Med.org, has just recently published medical data that points to beneficial effects of Cannabis smoking in people suffering from Crohn's disease.

A prospective trial of 21 patients, aged between 14 and 40, whose illness did not respond to steroid therapy were placed on a twice daily cannabis sativa dose of 11.5 mg in the form of cigarettes. A control group within the pool of patients was given a placebo.

After 8 weeks of treatment the results showed complete remission of 5 out of 11 of the subjects studied in the cannabis smoking group and only 1/10 in the placebo group.

Clinical improvement however was found in 10 out of 11 subjects studied, and 4/10 in the control group.

Three of the patients were completely weaned off of steroid therapy during the study.

No significant side effects were reported.

Further studies are recommended by the panel that executed the trial.
